Onyx has been carved into protective amulets and seals since ancient Rome and Greece, worn by soldiers believed to draw courage into battle. In modern crystal folklore it's treated as a grounding root chakra stone, used to absorb negative energy and build inner strength. Sold as a bag of 6 tumbled stones, each roughly 30-50 mm, ready for a shelf, pocket or meditation space.

Black Onyx (natural chalcedony)

Brazil, India (Rajasthan), Uruguay, Madagascar and the United States are common sources of the black chalcedony/agate often sold as black onyx; much commercial black onyx is dyed to achieve a uniform black. This batch is tumbled and polished in South Africa.

Black Onyx
